“CONVERGENCE”  is a deeply personal exploration of my homeland. Azerbaijan is a country of incredible geographic and cultural diversity—from the snowy peaks of the Caucasus and the lush green forests of the south, to the ancient, sun-baked plains and the deep blues of the Caspian Sea. With “Convergence,” I wanted to bring all of these distinct regional energies together onto a single canvas.

Instead of painting a literal map, I used structured, geometric blocks to represent the different regions, allowing their unique identities to meet, overlap, and connect. If you look closely at the background, you’ll see where I integrated mixed media elements, embedding fragments of local Azerbaijani newspapers directly into the canvas. This layer of text grounds the abstract colors in our actual history, language, and daily life.

Over that foundation, I layered bold acrylics with a palette knife to give each region its own physical weight. I wanted you to feel the fiery reds of Absheron, the rich, fertile greens of Lankaran, and the deep, mysterious blues and teals of our waters. “Convergence” is about how these separate, beautiful landscapes and histories flow into one another, meeting in perfect harmony to build the collective spirit of our home.
