Description

“Tulips” is a deeply rhythmic and layered piece from my Symphony of Colors series. Rather than painting a literal flower, I wanted to capture the living essence, the unfolding energy, and the vibrant awakening of springtime. It is an exploration of movement and texture, translating the emotional lift that comes with a sudden burst of life.

This particular piece holds a special place in my studio because it was a custom commission. A lady who had just moved into her new apartment reached out to me because she fell in love with the way I layer my colors using this particular palette knife technique. She wanted that exact textural depth to bring life and fresh energy into her new home.

To create that feeling for her space, I filled the canvas with a dense, swirling dance of strokes. I built the surface using rich layers of deep crimson, magenta, and soft pinks, punctuated by sudden flashes of warm orange and sunny yellow. To give the composition some breathing room and depth within all that intense floral energy, I let a bright, clear sky-blue peak through from the background. The texture is rhythmic and deliberate, mimicking the natural, chaotic elegance of petals catching the wind. For me, “Tulip” is a celebration of growth, renewal, and a beautiful fresh start—a visual melody painted to bring an absolute sense of vitality and joy into a home.
