Description

“Summer” is a canvas built entirely from the compartmentalized, vivid impressions of the season. Part of my Fragmented Memories series, this painting explores how our minds store the warmth, light, and energy of a specific time—not as a single, seamless image, but as a collection of brilliant, overlapping moments.

I built the composition using structured, geometric blocks to lock in different sensory experiences. You can see the deep, intense blues of the sea, the fiery reds and oranges of late August suns, and the sudden, cooling bursts of turquoise and vibrant greens. By applying the paint in bold, layered passages with a palette knife, I wanted to give each fragment its own unique texture and physical weight. The clean, white negative space surrounding the cluster emphasizes how these memories float together in our consciousness, building a complex, nostalgic puzzle of a season that always slips away too quickly. It’s an invitation to piece together your own warm moments and let that radiant, high-contrast energy fill the space.
